Vinatech (CEO: Sung Do-kyung) announced that it will supply all of its hybrid capacitor, VPC, to Samsung's eco-friendly solar cell remote control for its new Neo QLED TV. This is the first time in the world that a hybrid capacitor has been replaced 100 percent beyond the complementary role of a battery embedded in a general remote control.

Samsung's eco-friendly remote control, which was introduced at CES held in Las Vegas in January, is equipped with hybrid capacitor VPC and energy harvesting technology that recycles idle energy instead of batteries. This enables charging even in the dark.

Vinatech VPC is a high-density, eco-friendly hybrid capacitor that combines Vinatech R&D team's know-how and optimized technology over the past 20 years. A super capacitor is an energy storage device suitable for storing energy and generating high-power electricity instantly when needed. While it has excellent fast charging and discharging, long life, and a wide range of operating temperatures, it has the disadvantage of having less energy density than batteries.

VPC is characterized by the compatibility of the advantages of supercapacitors and batteries. Different materials are used for both electrodes, and the energy density is about 10 times higher than that of supercapacitors of the same size. It also implemented the advantages of supercapacitors, such as fast charging and discharging speed compared to batteries and characteristics that can operate in a wide temperature range of minus 25 to 85 degrees Celsius. In addition, even in case of flooding with short impact compared to batteries, there is no risk of fire or explosion, providing safety.

In addition, VPC's raw materials consist of eco-friendly materials to minimize carbon dioxide emissions from the entire process from production to disposal. Another reason why it is optimized for eco-friendliness is that it has more than 50,000 cycles of charge and discharge life, which is more than 100 times longer than the battery. Samsung Electronics explained at CES that it can reduce more than 200 million batteries when considering product sales and usage period, and that if the saved batteries are arranged in a row, it will be long enough to extend from Las Vegas to Korea.
