KESCO launch Fuel Cell Technical Institute

Korea Electric Safety Corporation(KESCO) launched the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technical Institute at Jeonbuk Innovation city in Dec 2019 together with experts from Doosan Heavy Industries, SK Construction, Bloom Energy, MHPS, Daesan Green Energy and more companies. (Source : HDHY.co.kr)

Battery electric vehicles subsidy to shrink in China

Electric vehicles are efficient requiring less energy to move the same distance than a gasoline-powered car. Electricity is always cheaper than gasoline. Therefore the fleet vehicles as buses and taxis prefer to apply electric vehicles. (Source: QZ.com)
There are 3.4 million new energy vehicles and 2.8 million electric vehicles in China which excludes motorcycles and other two-wheelers.(Source : Zhulong.com)
Recently the Chinese government has decreased BEV subsidy which will significantly be reducing purchase subsidies, which helped Beijing Electric Vehicle(BJEV) to sell with the lowest-priced. Now it opens Chinese electric vehicle market to compete with global carmakers and at the same time opens the door to launch international cooperation.

Fuel Cell Subsidy to reach 137 million won per FCEV basis

Chinese government subsidy will reach 137 million won per commercial fuel cell vehicle basis. China's new energy policy for Battery Electric Vehicle is gradually shrinking to focus on hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. It can be predicted that Chinese market will become the largest with the synergy of the policy drives as always.

Chinese Electric Vehicle Market : Competition or Cooperation?

Tesla had refused to produce in China, as the Chinese government demanded joint ventures. However, it began to build a Tesla plant in Shanghai, as it shifted the policy, the first factory outside the United States. Toyota decided to sell Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles with Gangzhou Motor company, promoting FCEV exports in cooperation with the local SinoHytec and Re-Fire, hydrogen fuel cell company. Ballard, Canadian Hydrogen fuel cell company established a Weichai-Ballard JV, joint venture with a Weichai Power, to start Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles production and sales in China.
Hydrogenix, a global hydrogen fuel cell company has entered the market through Membrane Electrode Assembly(MEA) sales, the core component of hydrogen fuel cell, to Shanghai Shen-Li, the Chinese stack manufacturer. (Source:fortunekorea.co.kr)

EV Korea 2019

Other than Battery Electric Vehicles, there are Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles(FCEV) which move longer distance as per charging time compared to BEV at the current level of technology. We have 2,000 fuel cell electric vehicle in Korea, and the government try to reach 80,000 FCEV by 2022. There are only 1,800 FCEV at the end of 2018 in China, and the government aims to reach 50,000 ~100,000 vehicles by 2025. They have 7,600 FCEV cars in US and try to achieve 22,500 FCEV by 2025. The goal set by each country soon is to depend on the support of the technical level. (Source : Electrive.com & MK.co.kr & FCHEA.org)
