Battery sales in the 1st quarter
This year, CATL and BYD, China's number one and number two battery makers, performed poorly in the first quarter due to Corona 19. EV sales decrease was crucial factor for the results. However, the 2nd quarter earnings prospect seems optimistic, surprisingly, as the electric vehicles subsidies, which were scheduled to close this year, have been extended for 2 years in China, and battery production has soared in March unlike the beginning of the year. The batteries produced by CATL and BYD account for over half of the Chinese market. The situation in the first quarter was worse for battery material suppliers, too. Tianqi Lithium Corp, the largest lithium company in China, announced the first quarter results 15 million yuan decrease compared to the same period last year. However, the second quarter may be improved because battery production in China has increased significantly in March. AER and MPGe, for EV choice
Consumers consider All Electric Range(AER) and Miles-Per-Gallon equivalent (MPGe) to choose the best electric vehicle for him or herself. AER for EV models as follows.
AER ranking in 2019, Tesla Model S 451km ranked the first, and Hyundai Cona Electric 406km, the second. Kia Niro EV 385km, Chevrolet Bolt EV 383km, Tesla Model X 353km, JAGUAR I-PACE 333km, Hyundai The New Ioniq Electric 271km, Nissan LEAF 231km.
Hyundai Ioniq Electric vehicles(2019 model) 136 MPGe ranked the first according to Environmental Protention Agency(EPA) announcement in 2019. Tesla Model 3 took the second and third place and Kona Electric took fourth place at 120 MPGe.
